Top lawyers in many of this country’s white-shoe law firms expanded their practices recklessly during the last “boom” decade and as a result now find themselves over-extended and teetering on the brink of liquidation as the world shifted into an economic downturn.

In the third book of the Mystery Series, Cassie Doolin, now the owner of her own catering kitchen, gets a break when she is hired by the owner of a high-powered Washington lobbyist law firm to cater business and political events for him. He has quite unexpectedly decided to sell his flourishing law practice to a New York law firm and to launch his political career with a run for Governor.

As usual, murder, mayhem and delicious food mix to provide Cassie with critical opportunities to sort through a myriad of clues and false leads to discover the truth.

Numerous publishing companies, large and small, are going broke these days, or are being gobbled up by larger publishers significantly reducing competition and leaving many writers to turn to small independents – sometimes with tragic results.

The fourth and final book in the Cassie Doolin Mystery Series, finds Cassie contracting with a small independent book publisher, Purple Frog Tongue Publishing in Eastland, Kansas, in order to have her catering cookbook published.  When the publisher, Oz Arnold, evades her attempts to confront him about the lack of progress in the completion of her book, Cassie joins with several other stymied writers and becomes involved in a mystery which leads them down a yellow brick road of intrigue. The want-to-be authors find themselves investigating human traffickers, murder and mayhem in a story with a “tip-of-the-hat” to the Wizard of Oz.
